原本是想找寬容，結果找到瞭這本。文筆不錯，故事也講得好。看完瞭纔發現是寫給children的，外國小朋友不錯啊。

房龍教授的這本雖然是寫給青少年的，但對於我們來說，依然是一本不錯的歐洲曆史讀物。由於作者的一些地理和時間局限性，有些的曆史進程和影響的描述並沒有像斯塔夫裏阿諾斯教授那樣深入和那種縱觀全球的融會貫通，但這也讓作者能有更多的筆墨來客觀的講述一些引人入勝的故事。我很喜歡房龍的講述風格，不過如果用更為苛刻的角度來看，它也隻能是一本非常不錯的兒童讀物。

这本书我读得还是很失败的。最近读《明朝那些事儿》，更发现了这点。我向来不适合读《人类的故事》《苏菲的世界》这样的书（虽然是都读完了），读了后面忘了前面的，又懒得刻意记些人名什么的，搞得前面读得查理大帝还很嗨后面就忘了他是哪国的了。我是不是上twitter上得话唠了...

那些看起来最容易的东西才是最难的，因为需要对宏大历史一些举重若轻的掌握。历史最高的境界不应该是考据成篇的赘述，而应该是个人细微的感受。

最早接触房龙是著名的《宽容》一书，高中教材里便选取了他的《宽容序言》作为课文。不同于一般的序言，这里面没有连篇累牍的赞扬这部书有多大成就，也没有如同豆瓣网上一些影评一样剧透，他只给我们讲了一个故事“happily lived mankind in the peaceful valley of ignorance”...

其实，这种“微言大义”或者“戏说历史”的文章是高谈阔论的绝佳材料。只是近代部分偏离史实太多。作者又动不动把历史人物和古人戏剧化和脸谱化，想把万恶中世纪和教会装成天使，而又估计省略前者婊子的行径。 just a 吐槽而已。
