读Middlemarch的半年并不是轻松的日子，尤其是读前面大部分时，几度想要放弃。不仅仅是为了George Eliot所运用的极为丰富的只有在那个时代才会被运用的英式英语庞大的词汇量，也不仅是书中复杂难以理解的19世纪20-30年代英国的宗教和政治背景，而是这本书构造的复杂庞大的人物...
