作者简介
弗雷德里克•M•韦洛克（Frederic M. Wheelock，1902—1987）是美国著名的古典学家，拉丁语教学权威。他在哈佛大学获得博士学位，先后任教于哈佛大学、纽约市立大学、布鲁克林学院等名校，并以其在文本批评、古文书学和拉丁语等领域的研究而蜚声古典学界。韦洛克教授是美国古典学联盟、美国语言学会和大西洋国家古典学会的成员。本书是他毕生最具代表性的杰作。
理查德•A•拉弗勒（Richard A. LaFleur）是美国古典学联盟主席（1984—1986）。他在杜克大学获得古典学博士学位，从1972 年起任教于佐治亚大学，并在那里担任北美洲最大的古典学项目之一的负责人长达21 年。拉弗勒教授著有《21 世纪拉丁语：从概念到课堂》等多部著作，并于1984 年获得美国语言学会“古典学杰出教育奖”。

译本的“简目”就是原版的目录，简简单单的大章目次表。 新增的是一套详细目录，跟在“简目”后面。由此可以透视到每一大章的具体内容。诸语法点的小标题，一目了然。好处不言而喻。 诚然算不上什么很有技术含量的编排，但是显出了制作人的用心。

评分实话说，这本书的编辑做得太懒，几乎没有校对，甚至连字母表都是错的，里面的印刷之缪简直是罄竹难书——一本本来堪称经典的教材结果至此，不堪，不堪，太不堪。除编辑错误以外，其他尚可接受。
评分最早看过的《Wheelock's Latin》，是从某人手中弄来的六手的影印版。在图书馆那台老掉牙但是向来不吝惜墨粉的复印机上苦干一下午之后，终于变成了第七手。 黑一点儿其实不算大毛病，人家小巴哥都当上米国总统了。但是那年头复印纸很贵，大家手里又普遍缺钱，所以不知从第几手起...

作为入门教材，在历史背景上的介绍相比Anderw Keller版本更丰富。其实作为二次入门或者重拾拉丁语反而更适合。

评分其实只是学完了，根本没掌握。动词搞到分词就崩溃了。屈折语太费劲了。
评分经典的美式拉丁语教材，这版是7th，一些先前的错误得以更正。对于有英文基础的朋友推荐英文原版，可以进行拉英比对，会对拉英词汇与句法有更好的认识。
