哈珀•李（1926— ）
生於美國阿拉巴馬州， 曾被授予普利策小說奬及其他眾多文學奬項。她與杜魯門•卡坡蒂是幼年的鄰居和一生的朋友。《殺死一隻知更鳥》據說是以卡坡蒂為原型之一創作的，現已成為公認的美國文學經典。此後，她一直隱居在傢鄉亞拉巴馬的小鎮上 ，拒絕各種采訪，過著平靜的生活。有人問她為什麼不在盛名之下接著寫作，她迴答：“有過這樣一次，還有什麼可寫的？”
