一直以为google不就是一个搜索引擎嘛,有什么大不了的。殊不知google在搜索引擎收集的用户数据的基础上,已经将业务扩展到这么多领域,成为了世界最大的广告传媒公司,给传统媒体、广告公司、图书、音乐等产业都造成了巨大的冲击。在这同时也产生了一些问题,比如版权和隐私的问题,比如得到的信息越多是不是真的能让人们的生活变得更好,也值得深思。

评分Observe 的评价还满公允的,fair and balanced。有讲了谷歌的发展历史,有讲盈利模式,讲和News Corporation ,Viacom,Disney,Microsoft,YouTube之间的比较和其中一些例如早期和Viacom一起negotiation YouTube的acquisition 的细节,还有则是government之间的博弈(最后一章终于提到了China,以及Google从Engineer公司逐步向Media Company的转型。希望以后有空还能细读,这次真的是扫读的(论文快来不及了。
