一部短小精悍的《存在與時間》解讀，比較適閤同原著一起閱讀。本書的最大優勢是在解讀中沒有摻入過多私貨，同時對英美學界海德格爾研究的一些弊病（例如概念的現成化、此在的過分主體化）有所察覺和批評。考慮到英語和德語的差異，作者特意指齣Being並不能真切地翻譯Sein，因為後者作為名詞卻兼有to be的開放性意味。在章節安排上，本書基本上是按照《存在與時間》原本的思路層層梳理，和原著有非常好的對應關係，在章節的轉換處則特意予以更多的過渡性論證，非常有助於讀者將《存在與時間》作為一個整體去把握。本書的不足在於對一些非常難懂的章節沒有解釋或一筆帶過，這種做法雖然比不懂裝懂來得誠實，卻造成瞭一種全書一氣嗬成的幻象，而事實上，也許正是理論深層的睏難導緻瞭海德格爾在行文中的含糊和矛盾，將這些擺齣來似乎更明智。
