对无产阶级的悲惨生活描写很细致，看的时候还是忍不住对比：英国矿工的生活品质要比同期中国底层好多了。这大概也算木桶原理之一种，底层的生活水准可作整体社会发展的参照。跟当代中国相比，矿工的生活水平恐怕也相差不大（不晓得现在用什么技术挖矿），很多阶级原理仍在起作用。对我这种人来说，接触底层的机会无非就是快递保姆而已，这样的著作对我还是有现实意义。 第二部分的自述角度暧昧，对本人阶级的批判相当犀利，总体对现实的论述可视为奥威尔的一种自我建构。
