"With a self-conscious formality of an old ballerina &Robert's ex: a lowbrow, pop-psy version of Sylvia Plath &It was his one remaining point of reference and he clung to it with a fierce Pavlovian tenacity." 可能DonnaTartt的魅力就是一定把故事寫得tediously long並插入無數古希臘語還都沒有翻譯但還是很想看完, which in itself就很不容易. 真的很難不想到HTGAWM或同類型drama 難免感慨如果再年輕一點的時候讀可能會更喜歡 0429-0508

倒不象朋友们那样觉得后半部太抻，前后两部分是不同的thriller对象。最深刻印象的句子倒在前五页，Robert说他前女友是lowbrow pop-psychology Sylvia Plath。

学校是个很戏剧性的地方，因为每个人都会主观地把自己想象成男女主角，相互加戏。作者好神奇，把Richard那种虚荣、怯懦和无安全感写得非常微妙，因此也就不难理解他实际是个多渴望豁出去一次的人，一旦豁出去吧，又会用之前困住自己的条条框框重新审判自己，这点和我自己太像。

Shame Donna Tartt has only written 3 books so far and this is the 2nd I read. Best of the best on the stony darkness of humanity, brushed over by a sense of 'sex drugs rock n roll', and condensed through a poetic heaviness.
