藉用去年12月份看斯金納寫《馬基雅維利》（牛津通識讀本）時看到的一句評價，稱這本書為“大師小書”毫不為過。曼斯菲爾德圍繞Partisanship展開政治哲學史的脈絡，很好地勾勒瞭從柏拉圖到尼采（或海德格爾）的發展路徑。其語言通俗易懂，且極好地展現瞭各個時代下思想傢的主要觀點及各自觀點之間的差彆。值得一提的是，這本小書很大程度上擺脫不瞭施特勞斯的影子（特彆是其整體的架構可以被稱為《現代性的三次浪潮》的重構），且具有較強的超脫於文本的解釋性（但這一問題不能完全歸結於曼斯菲爾德的寫法，更或許是施特勞斯學派的慣有作風）。總而言之還屬不可多得的好書。

曼大師的導讀，頗有意味

非常簡短，許多問題都是一帶而過。漏掉瞭許多哲學大傢（也許是因為他們對政治哲學貢獻不多），但為什麼沒有韋伯？

靠豆友翻譯刷一遍

雖然哲學研究從來不該指望入門讀物，但是還是讀瞭。不錯的一本書。
