Thomas Frank has come to drum the Grand Entry. Opal Viola Victoria Bear Shield has come to watch her nephew Orvil Red Feather; Orvil has taught himself Indian dance through YouTube videos, and he has come to the Big Oakland Powwow to dance in public for the very first time. Tony Loneman is a young Native American boy whose future seems destined to be as bleak as his past, and he has come to the Powwow with darker intentions--intentions that will destroy the lives of everyone in his path.

weaving 12 characters told in varying 1st/2nd/3rd-person voices, the device can feel mechanical&tiring, hard to keep track&delve deeper, some forgettable side characters. Otherwise, tremendous new perspective on urban native americans, bravura pro/interlogues, intergenerational pain&violence, search for identity. heavy on import of storytelling.

如果想要瞭解印第安人的都市化現狀，這本書大概是不錯的選擇。當我生長在都市當中，我該如何/我要不要去學習、傳承自己的民族曆史文化呢？當我失去瞭對民族的歸屬感，我是應該去追尋曆史還是被同化？當我被貼上標簽，我是順從還是抗爭？有三個自己心中的小缺陷。第一個是感覺本書並不是一個完整的故事，所以作者說在寫續集我也不覺得奇怪；第二是其實不太能理解為什麼要設置這樣一個結局（我的鍋；第三是POV寫的有點囉嗦，人並沒有很好分清，但總體來說還是好讀的

It's one of those books where everyone's life comes together in some Babel (the movie)-esque way 喪的很真實文字有些平鋪直敘但是真情實感不過還是有些難共情所以總是拿起又放下
