Certain parts dragged on for a bit, but a great debut novel as a whole.

This is making me realize just how many of my friends have made racial slurs towards me when I was younger and because I was young I didn’t know but I do now. I was Starr. I know how she feels.

比起其他young adult 的小說，這本可以說非常具有可讀性。也順應瞭風起雲湧的“black lives matter"的運動。小說通過黑人少女Starr的角度，展現瞭女孩兒在成長中麵臨的關於種族問題的睏惑和掙紮。最喜歡這本書的有力的結尾 “Khalil, I'll never forget. I'll never give up. I'll never be quiet. I promise." 不喜歡的地方是，有些地方太囉嗦瞭，有點絮絮叨叨的感覺。
