寫作邏輯清晰，論題以小見大，融貫自洽，自不必多說。但或許可以進一步商榷的兩個問題是：（1）作者引用的慣調資料涉及農業危機後土地價格下跌的問題，外加華北地區普遍賣契稅高於典契稅，如何處理普遍土地購買欲望降低，因而買賣雙方都傾嚮於典權這一事實？；（2）雖然本書理論根源在於文化帶來的kinship影響財産規範，但是財産規範下的典權變動的頻繁程度是否足以導緻great divergence？如同樣參考滿鐵資料，山東普遍典權變動很低，並且對即使存在典權的村莊來說，承典人多為外村人或者縣內商人，kinship在何種程度上得以在村外繼續發揮影響？
