本书最大的价值于我是小泽征尔的音乐史八卦，由对话这种形式而引出，显得自然又富有韵味。因为指挥家的话比较少，所以中段会觉得村上春树太罗嗦。小泽征尔的叙述帮助我对指挥有了更丰富的了解（和指挥大师们共事的回忆非常精彩），对古尔德的评价（可惜最核心的部分被删去了），马勒演绎的发展和其音乐的特色，四重奏于古典音乐的地位等。值得一看。

读一半弃了。除非拿那些古典唱片一张张听来比较同一乐曲不同演奏家的诠释，这本书读下来的意义不大。
