具体描述
《中国戏曲海外传播工程丛书·京剧：白蛇传》通过分析京剧“白蛇传”的故事原型及故事中主要人物，剖析了中国文化中“蛇”与女性相联系的一些因素，并研究了京剧和一些地方剧种对“白蛇传”的演绎及舞台灯光效果等因素对演出的影响。因此，是一部通过“白蛇传”这个民间故事传说了解中国戏曲文化的重要读本。
作者简介
杨孝明教授，1977年毕业于西安外国语大学，获学士学位，留校认教。1984年赴英国学习，并于1985年和1991年先后获得英语诺丁汉大学语言学硕士和美国俄亥俄州鲍陵格林州立大学英语博士学位，现为美国新泽西海洋学院终身教授，美国"现代语言协会"和"全美英语教师联合会"永久会员。杨孝明教授在学术研究方面也很有成绩，迄今已出版中、英文学术专著4部，译著1部，其英文专著The Rhetoric of Propaganda 和Error of Creativity在英国牛津大学、剑桥大学、哈佛大学、耶鲁大学等大学图书馆均有收藏。
