What is science? Do we have faith in the inferences that science uses to draw conclusions? What is the interpretation of probability? What exactly is science explanation, based on covering law or causality? Is scientific knowledge limited by our powers of observation?

With an enriched overall review of the history of science and philosophy of science, the book written in easily-comprehensible English is recommended to both academic and layman readers, although I find the author's critique of Popper is weak and unconvincing and his putting economy and sociology into the category of science is highly questionable
