在读这本书之前，完整读过的英文原著只有John Storey的《Cultural Theory and Popular Culture An Introduce》。这本书就是一个文化研究的简史，但其晦涩难懂直接让我断断续续一个多月才读完。不过这本《The Study of Language》却完全没有给人这样的感觉，很轻松半月搞定。（...

实在是太有趣了，作为入门而言再合适不过（甚至有点太浅了导致我这个半吊子都觉得说的不够深入）。全书也是非常的美国（或者说英语）视角。课后的discussion题目也都非常有意思，真想在美国大学的seminar里花一个学期来上一门Linguistics 101，和教授同学一起讨论然后自己挑个题目写论文。

挺有趣的一本普及性读物，从语言学的视角来看语言，并且也反映出各个分支学科或交叉学科中外研究的差异所在，比如符号学、社会语言学等部分~当然，作为for beginner的书，Morphology、Syntax等章节写得相当简略~
