评分這本書揭示瞭亞洲富豪緻富方程式是透過具有壟斷性質的行業，而不是進齣口貿易，因為後者賺的是辛苦錢，前者是典型的尋租活動。比較有八卦趣味的是他洞穿瞭很多亞洲富豪聲稱自己白手興傢的假象，這些人不是本來齣身不差就是娶瞭個有錢老婆。不過依賴專賣丶特許經營的緻富方式背後反映亞洲經濟高度依橫政商關係，實際上就是crony capitalism。
