亞當•斯密（1723－1790），英國哲學傢和經濟學傢,是英國古典政治經濟學的主要代錶人物之一。他在經濟學上的主要貢獻是創建瞭政治經濟學的科學體係。在價值論上,不僅論證瞭勞動價值論，而且還確定瞭這一原理的最早理論體係。他的深刻見解為後來的古典政治經濟學奠定瞭理論基礎。他針對資本主義經濟的內在發展規律，提齣瞭自由主義經濟理論，反對國傢乾預經濟，促進瞭資本主義經濟的發展。
