也許是重構TMS中最閤乎作者本意的作品，捅破瞭所謂的斯密建構牛頓體係的窗戶紙，直奔音樂協奏理論和亞裏士多德“拯救現象”問題，就是結語部分說的太狠，看的恍恍惚惚。另在聖母院被燒的第二天讀完，旁觀者，同情，審美，伊壁鳩魯，盧剋萊修，船難-災變-僥幸-虛僞的平靜內心-超越自我的同情想象種種，也許會是一個難忘的情感注腳。

斯密學說與古典哲學（尤其是柏拉圖哲學）的對比構成瞭該書的主綫，在作者看來，斯密之為啓濛思想傢在於他將“洞穴”變成瞭傢園。該書的洞見和可能的過度闡釋大多源自於此
