作者简介
Barbara Wertheim Tuchman was an American self-trained historian and author and double Pulitzer Prize winner. She became best known for The Guns of August (1962), a history of the prelude and first month of World War I.
As an author, Tuchman focused on producing popular history. Her clear, dramatic storytelling covered topics as diverse as the 14th century and World War I, and sold millions of copies.

评分我很喜欢这本书，我看书一向很杂，但是这本书能给我的比我想要的要多很多。 通过这本书，我看到很多细节处的东西，让当时的高层在我心中成为透亮的，于是我很喜欢，尤其是还可以看到很多动摇决策的小动作，让我觉得历史也不过如此
评分 评分这本书非常牛逼，写的磅礴大气又很有趣，唯一的缺点可能就是翻译的不是太好，句子不是很符合中国人阅读的习惯。 这个作者还写过一本《the distant mirror》,可惜还没有被翻译过来。

评分十颗星。这本书又一次raise了我English reading的bar! 每天都沐浴在历史的回肠荡气中上下班...Hindenburg被任命到东线战场和Joffre最终说服英国人去支援马恩河的那两段读的我快原地炸裂, truly shivering for mankind...还想接着读后四年的故事but I guess that won’t be so dramatic or decisive.
评分塔奇曼女士文字的优点是非常生动，引人入胜。缺点是过于戏剧化，让你不知道哪里可能埋藏有戏说成份。读来不放心的一本书。
