著者簡介

夏洛特•珀金斯•吉爾曼（1860.7.3-1935.8.17）, 生於美國康涅狄格州(Connecticut)哈特福德市(Hartford),曆任女性主義先鋒作傢、《先驅》月刊齣版人、社會評論傢、社會活動傢、演講人、商業藝術傢、教師等多重職業身份。

吉爾曼曾入羅得島設計學院，此外，所受其它正規學校教育不多，但其祖母傢族中女流先驅輩齣，姨祖母斯托夫人(Harriet Beecher Stowe)乃《湯姆叔叔的小屋》（Uncle Tom’s Cabin）作者。她曆經兩次婚姻，産後引發的抑鬱癥睏擾終身，大部分作品基於自己的生活體驗。

在患乳癌三年後，吉爾曼於加州(California)帕薩迪納(Pasadena)自殺，那正是其短篇代錶作《黃色壁紙》的誕生地。
