我認為我們必須相信higher justice存在，頭頂或無上帝但須有神，如若簡單相信justice即為“成王敗寇，the weak suffer what they must"，如若相信崇高已不復存在，則人同動物無本質區彆。雅典的這套正義說辭是self-governance的墮落體現，當一切價值都已煙消雲散時，構成城邦並使得城邦穩固的架構則不復存在。

四星半。精妙的書籍設計，大量比較準確的地圖、appendix的常識介紹都十分適閤初學者。Crawley的譯文自由度過大準確度也比較一般［當然修昔底德的希臘文實在是太難-_-#不是每個人都和Hornblower那樣強迫癥］，常識介紹也實在有點太“常識”瞭，適閤非曆史非Classics專業學生。
