True. It's an epic work of modern Sloth. Flipping pages on my ipad, albeit silently, did bring about echos from works by Proust, Kafka, etc. The way the narration is woven, e.g. the reflection of narrator in the narrated, also made me think of Eternal Sunshine. As for the necessity of metaphysics in the orderly life, "Ah humanity".
