In this masterpiece of nature writing, Nan Shepherd describes her journeys into the Cairngorm mountains of Scotland. Shepherd spent a lifetime in search of the 'essential nature' of the Cairngorms; her quest led her to write this classic meditation on the magnificence of mountains, and on our imaginative relationship with the wild world around us. Composed during the Second World War, the manuscript of The Living Mountain lay untouched for more than thirty years before it was finally published.
作者简介
娜恩·谢泼德 Nan Shepherd (1893-1981)，英国作家、诗人，一直生活于苏格兰阿伯丁，曾在阿伯丁教育学院教授英国文学。她终生未婚，与山为伴，阿伯丁附近的凯恩戈姆山区遍布她的脚印，作品也都以大山为主题，包括散文、小说和诗集。
管啸尘，1991年出生，湖北襄阳人，南京大学英语系毕业，从事翻译工作。
