奥斯娜·塞厄斯塔,1972年10月出生,享誉全球的挪威战地记者兼作家,欧洲100位最具影响力女性之一。毕业于奥斯陆大学,主修俄语、西班牙语和哲学史,之后又到莫斯科大学攻读政治学。曾先后担任数家斯堪的纳维亚媒体驻俄罗斯、中国、巴尔干半岛、阿富汗、伊拉克和美国的记者。“9·11”后,她在美国对塔利班和基地组织开战期间赴阿富汗进行实地采访时,曾借住在客布尔一个书商家中达4个月之久,通过与其家庭成员的密切接触而创作了小说《喀布尔书商》,出版后迅速畅销全球,荣膺十几项国际性大奖。作者也因身为女记者深入炮火中进行采访所表现出的勇气和敏锐洞察力而成为世界新闻界的明星。
For more than twenty years Sultan Khan defied the authorities to supply books to the people of Kabul. He was arrested, interrogated and imprisoned,and watched illiterate soldiers burn piles of his books in streets.

评分this is a book which reminds me of the one i read this January "letters to my daughters" and it simply unveils again how miserable women in Afghanistan are. Being a civilized citizen, I felt very sad to know these stories.

评分The most poignant chapters are VIII "Billowing, Fluttering, Winding" & XII “The Call from Ali”。若是聚焦于布卡下的女性世界或者朝圣路上的不信者Mansur而不是时隐时现的父权大家长Sultan,或许能更engaging。
