From the Backcover of the book:
Cat's Eye is the story of Elaine Risley, a controversial painter who returns to TOronto, the city of her youth, for a retrospective of her art. Engulfed by vivid images of the past, she reminisces about a trio of girls who initiated her into the fierce politics of childhood and its secret world of friendship, longing, and betrayal. Elaine must come to terms with her own identity as a daughter, a lover, an artist, and a woman -- but above all she must seek release from her haunting memories. Disturbing, hilarious, and compassionate, Cat's Eye is a breathtaking novel of a woman grappling with the tangled knot of her life.

评分It reminds me of The Sense of An Ending. Memories are so alike, for their uncertainty and vagueness. When you're mature enough to forgive, there's no one left waiting for your forgiveness. They wait for a while, then they move on, so the only one left is y...
评分The book deals with the pain and loneliness of growing up , not being able to fit in and the cruelty and hidden bullying inflicted by your "best friends" . Kids can be cruel to each other and their world is far from being so care free and innocent as imag...
very readable, a journey to the past and pain
评分very readable, a journey to the past and pain
The intimate forming moments of a life, immortalised, yet so easily misinterpreted. Time shrinks, or does it expand? So that the brushstroke becomes broader in the later years, so that things can only be noted down through their absence.
