阿拉伯世界近現代史。精彩，盡可能客觀而剋製。絕對好書，不過是寫到2009年，當時哪裏會想到後來會有敘利亞大亂，伊斯蘭國興起。。。

非常好讀的通史，寫的簡單易懂，非常適閤閑暇閱讀，文筆上比Albert Hourani的阿拉伯曆史要簡單很多，隨便翻翻就讀完瞭，Hourani大師的書要一邊撞牆纔能讀的下去。因為是通史肯定有所省略，但整體邏輯的嚴謹性和貫通感保持的很好。

這書寫的其實挺好的，但是assigned reading實在太多瞭，skip太多最後都懶得補瞭T.T

如果想了解中东尤其是阿拉伯世界是怎么发展到今天的，这本书基本是必读了。Eugene Rogan是牛津大学任教的研究中东问题的专家，他的另一本书《奥斯曼帝国的衰亡》已经被翻译成了中文，然而这本the arabs其实成书更早，时间跨度也最长，再版次数也最多。自从阿拉伯帝国逐渐瓦解...
