阿拉伯世界近现代史。精彩，尽可能客观而克制。绝对好书，不过是写到2009年，当时哪里会想到后来会有叙利亚大乱，伊斯兰国兴起。。。
评分非常好读的通史，写的简单易懂，非常适合闲暇阅读，文笔上比Albert Hourani的阿拉伯历史要简单很多，随便翻翻就读完了，Hourani大师的书要一边撞墙才能读的下去。因为是通史肯定有所省略，但整体逻辑的严谨性和贯通感保持的很好。
评分这书写的其实挺好的，但是assigned reading实在太多了，skip太多最后都懒得补了T.T
评分內容較新，2009年完稿，2011年新版。 較為客觀闡述阿拉伯和以色列的衝突，以及各方的立場。
评分写了北非和中东的阿拉伯化的国家从1516年起五百年的斗争和苦难，尤其以近百年为重，且局限于政治、宗教、战争方面，并非是一部全面的阿拉伯人的历史。但作者逻辑清晰地从宏观角度说明了这些国家所经历的动荡之间的关联，辅以许多同时代名人和平民的生动记录，让近650页的书读起来欲罢不能。看的是企鹅17年第3版，已经紧随时局发展把原来的尾声扩写成第15章，希望中文版本靠谱一点。
