这书写的其实挺好的，但是assigned reading实在太多了，skip太多最后都懒得补了T.T

內容較新，2009年完稿，2011年新版。較為客觀闡述阿拉伯和以色列的衝突，以及各方的立場。

非常好读的通史，写的简单易懂，非常适合闲暇阅读，文笔上比Albert Hourani的阿拉伯历史要简单很多，随便翻翻就读完了，Hourani大师的书要一边撞墙才能读的下去。因为是通史肯定有所省略，但整体逻辑的严谨性和贯通感保持的很好。

这本书的主调是阿拉伯人如何在西方的干涉和腐败的本土领导之间，如何被剥夺了阿拉伯世界的权利，且使其自我倾轧。一战后的各阿拉伯国家，面对西方殖民者未经深思熟虑而划定的国界，基本没有多少国家认同感，更多的还是宗教认同，所以阿拉伯人一直希望建立一个统一的阿拉伯国家...
