洛麗·摩爾，1957年生於紐約州，十九歲時在美國青少年雜誌《十七歲》舉辦的小說競賽中獲奬。她畢業於康奈爾大學創意寫作係，1983年齣版第一部短篇小說集《自助》，之後相繼齣版短篇小說集《像生活那樣》、《美國鳥人》、長篇小說《字謎遊戲》、《誰將開辦青蛙醫院？》和《樓梯口的門》。她的短篇小說《你也很醜》被約翰·厄普代剋收入他主編的《二十世紀美國最佳短篇小說》。長篇小說《樓梯口的門》入選《紐約時報》2009年度十大好書。
