THE SWAN is the story of a nine year old girl from a fishing village, who is sent to a farm in the country as punishment for shoplifting. There she discovers feelings she had not known before - mysterious, horrendous and painful feelings. A novel built on tension and contradictions, where the grotesque and the beautiful, the comical and the dramatic, are constracted but somehow reconciled.
