评分The pace didn't quite work for me as it dragged midway through and the drastic turn toward the end came from nowhere. Once again bewitched by the author's ability to use seemingly simple words and an utterly detached tone to bring readers to tears. And, it has the most wonderful description about a pear I've ever read in any book, given the circumstances around the scene. "Those who carry a knife and a pear are never afraid of the dark."
