孤僻的孩子走齣內心角落、對於夢幻和親情抉擇的故事。美國的少年讀物似乎都傾嚮於對孩子性格的塑造、引導和培養——寬容、善良、平等、愛，etc，至少我目前讀的兩本都是。就文學性而言，羅賓保守秘密，隨威廉姆斯一傢離開應該是更好的結局；但那樣略帶遺憾和傷感的情緒就不是少年讀物裊。麥剋魯迪先生提供工作、全傢都留下來的好萊塢式大團圓結尾在意料之中，在老爸說麥剋魯迪先生"took me over and showed me all round"的時候；但沒想到Brighet與麥剋魯迪一傢相認，又被聘為什麼曆史社團委員會顧問，更沒想到舉傢搬遷——即使大團圓，也不要團得這麼圓好不好……
