讀完整本，我不禁開始懷疑對開篇的喜歡是不是因為經過瞭影像的熏陶？顯然電影對<Travis, B.>的改編拿捏得非常棒，無論是整體悄無聲息的風格，空曠平凡中湧動的情緒，故事的簡單與內心的波瀾反差，以及女主衣著、吃飯模樣的細節刻畫，都做到瞭影像與文本同樣齣色（也許正是文本的簡練給瞭影像發揮的空間），當然瞭把男孩子換成女孩子更是電影的神來之筆。不過越往後讀驚喜越少，第二和第三篇還算挺喜歡，再後麵齣軌主題重復的有點多，有幾篇場景集中在室內對話顯得短而狹窄。感覺下來確實她的書還是比較適閤影像化的。

很久不見這樣精巧講述American Life的短篇小說集，特彆喜歡開篇的幾個故事，有些卡森麥卡勒斯的影子，在營造孤獨感之外不忘時時戳破人性的軟弱和生活的虛妄。中間幾篇有點審美疲勞，最後兩個故事還算不錯。
