《下崗女工身份的社會語言研究》由項蘊華著，改革、開放以來，新興的社會群體不斷湧現。其中，下崗女工的社會地位和職業生涯的變遷體現在其不斷變化的身份中。作者綜述瞭Labov的語言變異理論、言語社區理論、實踐社區理論、身份的社會構建理論以及身份的敘事構建理論，從而構建瞭跨學科的、現實主義的視角。作者運用瞭個案分析方法、Bakhtin和Lemke的體裁分析方法、Labov的敘事分析評價模式以及批評性語篇分析等方法對相關政府文件、媒體報道和下崗女工本人的敘事語篇進行分析，指齣下崗女工的社會身份是在特定的社會、文化和曆史語境中形成的動態的、多重性的意義構建過程。本選題跨學科的理論和分析模式打破瞭社會學和語言學之間的界限，是當前國際上社會學中齣現的“語言學轉嚮”和語言學中有關社會變革研究的“社會學轉嚮”的重要實踐，對社會語言學研究具有一定的藉鑒意義。
