乡土文学，优美的田园景色描写，写的又是普通人的生活，薇拉笔下的亚历山德拉是那么真实，有时在她身上看见了自己的影子

印第安人的血与泪简直写的声色俱在！种种不公平待遇就是只许州官放火，不许百姓点灯！法律永远只是维护统治阶级的利益，美帝zf就是这样做了婊子还立牌坊。确实是佳作，笔锋如画。

充满对自然的刻画以及人和自然关系的隐喻，但其实关于“种地”这方面的描写并不多，更多的是这片土地上生活的人的关系的描写。Willa Cather原著语言很poetic，译者翻译的也很不错，语言柔和，而不是生硬的翻译腔。
