Distilled to its essence, our motivation for all our endeavors in life
is happiness and peace. Real peace is an enlivened state of being,.
unclouded by fear or conflict; it is the most energetic and joyous state
available to us. To reach it, we must clarify and refine our decision-
making processes; where we had once chosen fear and conflict, we
now choose peace and happiness. The best cl]oices we make are those
that create the least amount of pain and conflict and the greatest peace.
Conflict in any area simply reflects errors of choice. This book is about
examining and reevaluating our choices.
Once we begin to resolve our fears, we will create miracles.
Miracles are not just supernatural events Such as parting waters or
levitation. Miracles are any and every act of love and forgiveness.
These miracles, these everyday acts of love, are occurring all around
us; we just haven't recognized them yet. As we are released from our
fears, our true nature of trust and love will emerge once again. Our
true nature will create miracles.
A man is lost in the woods and desperately seeks a way out.
He travels down one dead-end path after another. Several days
pass until, exhausted arid discouraged, he spots another man walk-
ing through the forest. With renewed hope, he approaches the
other man and says; "I have been going down trails that lead
nowhere for days looking for a way out of this forest arid had
almost given up. I am so glad I found you. Will you please lead me
out of here?" The other man, also looking weary and confused,
responds, "I'm lost, too. But if we share the dead-end paths we
have each been down, then we can both get home much easier and

This is our predicament, lost in the woods,, somewhat weary and
disillusioned, but still hopeful. Fortunately, our paths have just crossed
and we have found each other through this book. In the Spirit of Business
describes the dead-end trails I have been down and a few signposts I see
up ahead. It is up to you to use these tools, or signposts, to lead you
out of the forest to your own natural state or peace and happiness. Your
own experience will establish the validity of these tools. All you need
