勞倫•勃蘭特，加拿大多倫多大學經濟係經濟學教授，曾在《政治經濟學雜誌》等一流國際經濟學期刊上發錶大量關於中國經濟的文章，對中國經濟的各個方麵都多有涉獵。

托馬斯•羅斯基，美國匹茲堡大學經濟係經濟學和經濟史教授，曾在《美國經濟評論》和《政治經濟學雜誌》等雜誌上發錶大量許多關於中國經濟史和中國工業經濟的論文，同時也是《中國經濟增長與就業》（1979）和《戰前中國經濟增長》（1989）等書的作者。

硬着头皮看了两章，也许英文原书内容还不错，只是中文翻译实在是太烂了，前面居然有人说翻译得好，简直无语。一句话经常要读好多遍，在大脑里置换词语重组才能大致理解，有的句子完全不知所云。基本上就是找几个学生翻译完凑本书出来。好吧，只能怪自己英文不好。
