During the restless summer weeks, unrelenting but buried currents of obsession, fascination, and desire intensify their passion as they test the charged ground between them and verge toward the one thing both already fear they may never truly find again: total intimacy. Andre Aciman's critically acclaimed debut novel is a frank, unsentimental, heartrending elegy to human passion.
André Aciman is the author of False Papers and Call Me by Your Name. He teaches comparative literature at the City University of New York Graduate Center and lives in Manhattan with his family.
Suddenly One Summer By STACEY D’ERASMO Published: February 25, 2007 This novel is hot. A coming-of-age story, a coming-out story, a Proustian meditation on time and desire, a love letter, an invocation and something of an epitaph, “Call Me by Your Name...
It is about the sexual awakening of Elio, but also the aftertaste of love and other things. Time heals, nostalgia hurts, boys grow up. What's to be done? If you remember everything...,turn to me...as you did back then, look me in the face, hold my gaze, and call me by your name. "Aime-moi moins, mais aime-moi longtemps."
