著者簡介

Sally Rooney was born in 1991 and lives in Dublin. Her work has appeared in the New Yorker, Granta, The White Review, The Dublin Review, The Stinging Fly, Kevin Barry's Stonecutter and The Winter Page anthology. Her debut novel, Conversations with Friends, was the most popular debut in the 2017 end-of-year round-ups. Rooney was shortlisted for the Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award for 'Mr Salary' and was the winner of the Sunday Times/PFD Young Writer of the Year Award.

All about relationships...關係的多種可能，像介紹裏說的"ménage à quatre"，除瞭年齡差異，他們之間還有階級、金錢、社會地位差異，但拋卻這些，每個人渴望被理解的需求又是一樣的。小說越看越好看，尤其是後半部分四人之間衝突更多，因而就有更多對relationship的討論。很喜歡最後Nick問Frances，what does it mean for a relationship to work out? Frances迴答if two people make each other happy..."Come and get me" will Nick pick Frances up? what about Bobbi then? Never know...

確實是一等一的好讀，有時作者對年輕一代生活狀態和情感互動的精細描寫讓人都有些不適。讀到最後，Melissa和Nick這對夫婦反倒越來越朦朧，這發生的一切，僅僅是兩人調劑關係的一種相處模式（Bobbi的陰謀論），還是因為情感的濫觴呢？Nick的各種選擇和行動是齣於無法自控的真誠，還是一個空心人在極端passive的日常狀態下習慣使然？小說跟Rooney的短篇"Mr. Salary"在氣脈上也有極強的相似度。
