First published in 1977, Love Is a Dog from Hell is a collection of Bukowski's poetry from the mid-seventies. A classic in the Bukowski canon, Love Is a Dog from Hell is a raw, lyrical, exploration of the exigencies, heartbreaks, and limits of love.
Charles Bukowski is one of America’s best-known contemporary writers of poetry and prose and, many would claim, its most influential and imitated poet. He was born in 1920 in Andernach, Germany, to an American soldier father and a German mother, and brought to the United States at the age of two. He was raised in Los Angeles and lived there for over fifty years. He died in San Pedro, California, on March 9, 1994, at the age of seventy-three, shortly after completing his last novel, Pulp.

评分我懇請自己克制一下獵奇心理!!「And with the TV flickering /I took her standing up. /as we struggled around the room. /I'm fucking the grave, I thought, I'm /bringing the dead back to life, marvellous /so marvellous /like eating cold olives at 3am /with half the town on fire.」
评分She'll miss me-/ not my love/ but the taste of my blood,/ she's so good that I almost miss my death. We will taste the islands and the sea/ soon/ my fingers will/ rift/ through/ soft clean/hair/ songs such as no radio/ plays/ all sadness,grinning/ into flow. When I think of myself dead/ the air goes all white. 这也好叫爱的,只是嗜血嗜欲猎奇扭曲的刻耳柏洛斯罢了。
