喜歡 I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter 的讀者還喜歡

This book is about the family/school life of a Latino-American teen age girl, and how she squeezed her place between the family/community -oriented Mexican culture and the individual- oriented America culture. It covers the conflicts of parenting between two generations, illegalization immigrations, depression, equal rights etc. A good read.

有點難以相信作者是一位詩人，因為這部小說的詞匯量和句式，就像普通的中學生（？）。除卻錶達上的淺，對情感的挖掘也很淺。有點像通俗版的《鍾形罩》，結局最為通俗，女主人公被她心心念念的紐約大學錄取瞭。女主人公的墨西哥傢庭，跟中國傢庭有很多相似之處，驚訝於此。要去鎮上的主街找墨西哥餐館吃，看書的時候覺得墨西哥的吃食好好吃！最後，我也想被NYU錄取，還是全奬的那種????

實在是不能喜歡女主人公，覺得她誇大一切小事，並且到處都錶現得不能很好地成長。成長就一定要有憂鬱癥來伴隨嗎？不喜歡她對性和感情的隨便，也不能理解她對文學的熱愛來自哪裏？能持續多長？一個GPA這麼糟糕的學生能夠進NYU？真是隻能在小說裏瞭。
