3.5星。比一般的teen小说好看。突出了第一代移民和第二代移民之间对于家庭， 爱情，事业等等的不同观念和彼此之间的冲突。不过，我不太喜欢女主角，有点烦人精的感觉。又作又mean。而且让人不解的是，成绩平平，貌似也不是很努力，怎么考上了nyu呢。
评分I don't think this book is really excellent ，but I just love it. Me and Julia have so much in common. Both of us love reading，and sometimes I just don't like anything. Some emotions written in the book are exactly what I am feeling in certain circumstances. Plus：I love David Bowie too.
评分有点难以相信作者是一位诗人，因为这部小说的词汇量和句式，就像普通的中学生（？）。除却表达上的浅，对情感的挖掘也很浅。有点像通俗版的《钟形罩》，结局最为通俗，女主人公被她心心念念的纽约大学录取了。女主人公的墨西哥家庭，跟中国家庭有很多相似之处，惊讶于此。要去镇上的主街找墨西哥餐馆吃，看书的时候觉得墨西哥的吃食好好吃！最后，我也想被NYU录取，还是全奖的那种????

评分我觉得我之前对YA小说真的有误解。就算过了这么多年，读到书中的纠结还是能想起当初一度也很压抑，对什么都不满的自己。能入围国家图书奖不是没有道理的。
