In the summer of 1914 most of Europe plunged into a war so catastrophic that it unhinged the continent's politics and beliefs in a way that took generations to recover from. 著者簡介

伊恩·剋肖，英國國傢學術院院士、王傢曆史學會會員、20世紀德國史專傢。著有《希特勒迷思》、兩捲本《希特勒傳》和《命運攸關的抉擇：1940—1941 年間改變世界的十個決策》等。2002 年，他因為在曆史學方麵的貢獻而獲封為爵士。
