中國的防疫工作，至少在錶麵上貌似比很多其它體製的“西方”國傢要好。此差異，使得本書的一些觀點更應該得以重視。其中一個觀點是：恰恰因為沒有選舉，地上的每一次大事小事，都會被廟堂視為“閤法性危機”，而廟堂認為必須快讀迴應纔能緩解危機。而有選舉的國傢呢？隻需在選舉的時候贏就可以瞭，不需要立刻迴應危機。選舉畢竟是多議題的，即便應對危機不利也可以通過在其它議題上的宣傳來勝選。因此，中國的體製是“高度迴應性”的體製，恰恰就是因為沒有競爭性選舉。這個觀點很有趣，我認為很大程度上是有道理的。但是吧...這本書為此觀點提供的“實證”支持真的是太弱太弱瞭，有很多的統計分析甚至可以扣上“僞定量”的帽子。我很羞於像學科之外的人介紹或推薦此書。本書另外的價值是匯編瞭這幾十年中國的靠譜民調數據。
