不想當記者的廚師不是好作傢。作者Dan Barber是紐約餐廳Blue Hill的主廚（我沒進去吃過，就在門口悄悄看瞭一眼），本書裏他成瞭一個記者，采訪瞭種玉米的農民、養豬鴨鵝的生態園，用自然地形創新養殖的水場，探討瞭人和自然、飲食的關係。作為farm to table理念的倡導者，他認為未來美國的餐桌應該順著自然和大地的給予提供菜品，而不是僅僅遵從人的食欲。比如飯店沒有固定的菜單，而是告訴客人今天農場給瞭我們什麼，我們可以提供什麼。雖然非常理想主義，還有給有機食品打廣告之嫌，內容卻非常詳實有趣，值得一看。
