Carl Zimmer is a columnist for the New York Times, writes for National Geographic and other magazines, and is the author of thirteen books, including Parasite Rex, Soul Made Flesh, and Microcosm. He is also a lecturer at Yale University, where he teaches writing about science and the environment.

评分极其简单的科普，涵盖了病毒研究中的重要分支：测序考古，疫情控制，生化反应及免疫调控。还有些新近的病毒学研究进展，以及全书特别注重病毒与人类和生物进化方面的思考。 总体上衔接高中和专业课一年级水平，实验方法少，数据少，电镜照倒不少。 大方向上把握比较准确，虽然第二版也是2015写的，但也涵盖了非典，中东，埃博拉，牛瘟等等，也写了些冠状病毒族的预言

评分科普类文章，却很有哲思。当下阅读很应景。
评分之前买了中文版的，这次趁着疫情找到了英文版的回头再温习。看完之后整个人平静了很多，我们每个人都只是这个时代洪流中的一个小分子，看了人类和病毒漫长的交战历史，人类大部分是输了的，some perhaps pure luck， 所以该怎么过还是怎么过吧，做好自己的部分就好了。 Don't panic, just grab your towel.
