作者 | 柳原汉雅（Hanya Yanagihara），1974年生于洛杉矶，美籍日裔女作家。1995年于史密斯女子学院毕业后搬至纽约。2015年开始担任《纽约时报》旗下时尚杂志《T》主编。《渺小一生》是她的第二部长篇小说，荣获科克斯评论文学奖，入围布克奖、美国国家图书奖、国际IMPAC都柏林文学奖、橘子小说奖等四项文学大奖决选名单。

译者|尤传莉，东吴大学经济系毕业。译有《图书馆的故事》《达芬奇密码》《天使与魔鬼》《火车大劫案》《依然美丽》《当时，上帝是一只兔子》等。

Yanagihara有敏锐的观察和丰富的想象力，极富同理心。她的文笔刻意冗长，有诗意又犀利，刀刀入骨。我太喜欢这个故事的文学性了。结局完美

一開始只能在 Jude 身上看到自己。然後他開始變成主角，開始成為這幾個月來每天晚上會擔心的人。最後兩章要鼓起勇氣才能把書拿起，很想永遠讀下去，又不想和 Jude, Williem, Harold, Andy, Malcolm, JB 道別。Yanagihara 的語句淺顯卻感人至深，把有些不常見的心理活動刻劃得無比細膩。雖然總體殘忍，但有些地方未免還是有些理想化了。

啰嗦程度和Ayn Rand差不多

晋江起点耽美文风也好，柳原汉雅的亚洲式mean也好，模式化的政治正确也好，但是看到同游Alhambra那一段，听着Recuerdos de la Alhambra，隐隐感到the happy years之后将是急转直下的坠落；看到哈罗德在信中的娓娓道来（实际上是苍凉独白），还是忍不住哭了

I can't even think about it without crying. There are people in this world who deserve happiness more than anyone else but can never be happy. And there are people who love these people but can't live through a single day without agony knowing that they can be of little help. Love cannot heal everything, yet people still want to believe in it.
