Never judge a man by his umbrella.The fox came to stay...人生比小說更精彩，但是對自詡正義的Kim Philby的認同可能隻剩養狐狸的部分瞭...覺得他所謂的為瞭ideology可以不顧一切更多是掌握他人秘密的藉口，他享受自己的階級特權，破壞瞭它在英國情報係統中的地位，但他沒有樹立起什麼新東西，隻要求彆人為自己犧牲。(他爹倒是很有趣，TEL的前同事/對手 →v→)

對這個案件略有瞭解，因此根本沒想到這本書能夠被寫得如此妙趣橫生。無數諜戰趣聞，大量英國上層社會的細節，都被作者用英國人特有的語氣寫瞭齣來。

從前言到後記都不可疏漏的一本書。作者從自己西方的視角，略有鄙夷地記敘瞭他所理解的共産黨人的革命意誌和激情以及動機。但這種鄙夷，源自英國人寫書一貫的筆觸而非偏見。不論是否是間諜案的愛好者，是否是冷戰的好奇者，僅就書中記載的很多曆史片段和人物言行，閱讀者都會感覺欣喜。
