三位學者閤著，Beard和Price所著章節大體能猜齣來，而後者對東部行省的研究也是之後要重點關照的對象。總的來說，作為通史，又齣眾手，在詳略協調方麵或多或少會齣一些問題。早期羅馬曆史的記憶與虛構在Beard的筆下張弛有度；晚期共和國到帝國時期“諸宗教”（religions）的漸次展開，以及關於它們在信仰體係中的相對地位的論述十分引人入勝。
