评分鴻篇巨製，細節極其豐富而又有宏大眼光的考察。Terminology檢視之細緻為英語學界少有，拆Mommsen打Martino的學術史地位，構建瞭希臘本位的共和國史，經典的“羅馬史不過是希臘史分支”作品。許多觀點如今很難撼動，政治運作的錶述成瞭Eckstein撕他的入手點【雖然我不喜歡E】。該領域絕對的必讀書。讀的時候還請多多檢視原始材料，偶有疏失。
